Lee-Ann Curren misses out on Peru ASP World Tour Event
The French team Roxy surfer,
Lee-Ann Curren pulled out of the 5th event of the Women's World Surfing Championship (ASP Women's World Tour) in Peru due to a knee injury. The sole European surfer qualified alongside the female elite of world surfing, felt a pain during a recent training session on the Basque Coast. A lesion of the right external meniscus was diagnosed. For the time being, Lee-Ann is out of the water for 2 weeks and must concentrate on rest and recovery. Without any complications, she should be surfing again before the end of June leaving plenty of time for Lee-Ann to prepare for the 6th event of the ASP Women's World Tour 2010, in Portugal this October.
Having begun well against the elite field, Lee-Ann has progressed through the first rounds of competition without exception and is currently rated 12th in the World, before the Lima event.
Despite missing the Peruvian event, which could perhaps cost her one or two places, four events remain scheduled for this autumn at spots, which Lee-Ann is particularly fond of, such as Portugal and Hawaii. Lee-Ann has every chance to remain amongst next year's elite.
It will be an achievement without precedent, since neither of the two previous qualified Frenchwomen on WCT (Marie-Pierre Abgrall and Caroline Sarran) succeeded in requalifying for their second year on tour.
